Siliguri, 31st July: An oil tanker train derailed in the Rangapani area, adding to the recent series of railway incidents in the region.
The train, heading to an oil depot in Siliguri, experienced the derailment when two of its tanker cars went off the tracks upon arrival in Rangapani. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported from this incident.
The derailment caused a significant disruption in railway traffic, halting all trains scheduled to pass through the affected route. In response, the railway team has commenced efforts to restore normal operations.
This incident follows a severe train accident over a month ago, where the Kanchanjunga Express collided with a freight train in Rangapani, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries. The recurrence of such events underscores the need for enhanced railway safety measures in the area.
