Bank Employee Arrested in Siliguri for Fraudulent Account Creation

Siliguri, 14th August: In a significant development, Abhishek Roy, a bank employee in Siliguri, has been arrested for allegedly opening bank accounts in customers’ names without their knowledge and conducting transactions through these unauthorized accounts. The case came to light in July when a woman while preparing her income tax file, discovered a bank account had been opened in her name at a bank on Bidhan Road. Shockingly, transactions totaling nearly three crore rupees had been made through this account, of which she was completely unaware.

The victim promptly lodged a written complaint at the Panitanki Outpost, prompting an investigation. The police identified Roy’s involvement in the fraudulent activities and arrested him. After thorough questioning, it was confirmed that Roy was responsible for opening multiple unauthorized accounts. The accused was produced before the Siliguri Court on Wednesday. The case continues to unfold as authorities investigate further.
