Phansidewa, 01st August: On Thursday, parents of students at the Phansidewa Government Model School staged a protest and blocked the state highway, demanding an increase in teaching staff.

The parents expressed frustration over the school’s designation as a ‘model school’ while operating with only one permanent teacher. Until recently, three guest teachers were assisting, but the current staffing shortage has left just one teacher to manage all students. This has led to frequent class cancellations, raising concerns about the students’ preparedness for upcoming secondary exams.

The issue has been reported to the Sub-Divisional Officer. The head teacher emphasized the urgent need for more teachers. During the blockade, officers from the Ghoshpukur Outpost arrived, and parents dispersed after police assurances. Additionally, Phansidewa BDO Biplab Biswas promised immediate action to address the staffing crisis and ensure the school receives the necessary support.
