Siliguri, 03rd August: In a significant move, the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) launched an anti-encroachment drive in the Tikiapara area, focusing on illegally constructed shops. The operation, part of a larger eviction initiative throughout Siliguri, resulted in the demolition of all unauthorized structures.
On Saturday morning, SMC officials executed the eviction in Tikiapara, where a vegetable market had been occupying the street. All shops that were illegally positioned on drainage lines were dismantled. This drive has been ongoing for several days and, according to sources, will continue in the coming days.
