RANGPO, AUGUST 8, 2024: The Sevoke-Rangpo Railway Project reached a critical milestone on Thursday as Tunnel T6 was successfully completed, marking a significant advancement in connecting Sikkim to the national railway network.

The 3.94 km tunnel, which includes a 600-meter audit passage, was constructed by ITD Cementation, a firm renowned for handling complex infrastructure projects. The breakthrough in Tunnel T6 represents the 12th out of 14 tunnels on this project where mining work has been completed.

The construction process was fraught with challenges, including frequent landslides, blockages on National Highway 10, and difficult rock conditions. Despite these hurdles, the project team persisted, showcasing exceptional resilience. With Tunnel T6 now complete, only two tunnels remain, bringing the Sevoke-Rangpo Railway Project closer to fruition.
