Naxalbari, 29th July: Left party members launched a protest against government land encroachment, fake ‘khatian’, the sale of leased land by encroachment, and the de-encroachment of river banks.

Various organizations, including CPI(M) and CPI(ML), organized a rally and protest on Monday, ending with a memorandum submission to the Naxalbari Block Development Officer (BDO).

The memorandum listed several demands, such as returning land to an individual in Sebdella, stopping the occupation and sale of river banks in Maniram, and halting the acquisition of cremation land for solid waste management in Gossaipur.

It also addressed concerns over three arrests made on the complaint of the Naxalbari Block Land Reforms Officer (BLRO), questioning the unknown status of other involved individuals.

Protesters called for an investigation into the incident and demanded the removal of the Naxalbari Panchayat Samiti’s working president, who was arrested in a land-related case.
