Kharibari, 17th August: A tragic incident has unfolded in Gazi Jote, Kharibari, where a woman, Geeta Singha, was found dead in her home amidst an ongoing family dispute. Married to Bapi Singha for a decade, Geeta endured years of domestic abuse, often at the hands of her husband, who struggled with alcohol addiction. On Saturday morning, Bapi, who had previously served time for assaulting his wife, allegedly beat her again, leading to her death.
The Kharibari police responded promptly, recovering Geeta’s body and taking it to the police station. The body is scheduled for a post-mortem at North Bengal Medical College and Hospital on Sunday. The deceased’s mother has demanded strict punishment for Bapi Singha, who has been arrested. The investigation continues as authorities seek justice.
