Tragic Road Collision in Siliguri Claims Six Lives, Two Villages Grieve

Siliguri, 12th August: A devastating road accident on National Highway No. 31 near Muni Tea Estate in Siliguri has left six people dead, plunging the villages of Gokul Jote and Danagachh into mourning. The deceased, identified as Govind Chowdhury, Amlesh Chowdhury, Prahlad Roy, Kanak Barman, Pranab Roy, and Himesh Roy Chowdhury, were en route to the Junglee Baba Temple in Bagdogra when the tragic incident occurred.

The group of ten left their homes early Monday morning, only to meet with disaster just a few kilometers away. The accident took place around 5 a.m., leading to the immediate death of six members. Among the deceased, three were from the same family in Gokul Jote, while the remaining three hailed from Danagachh.

Local leaders, including the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad Sabhadhipati and Sahakari Sabhadhipati, along with the BDO of Phansidewa, rushed to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital to support the grieving families. The local administration has assured full support to the affected families.

Among the victims, Prahlad Roy was a Civic Volunteer under Kawakhali Traffic Guard, and Himesh Roy Chowdhury was a 10th-grade student. The tragic news has cast a pall over the close-knit communities of Gokul Jote and Danagachh.
