Siliguri, 02nd August: A severe road accident occurred at Mahananda Bridge in Siliguri, involving a passenger bus and a bike. The bike rider sustained significant injuries in the incident.
Reports indicate that the accident took place while the bus was traveling from Siliguri Junction towards Air View More. A brake failure caused the bus to ram into the bike. The injured rider, who was hit badly with both legs seemingly fractured, was swiftly rescued and transported to a nursing home for treatment.
The bus driver fled the scene immediately following the collision. In response, an agitated crowd vandalized the bus.
The police have commenced an investigation into the incident after seizing the bus with the assistance of a crane.
