Siliguri, 17th August: Members of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI), Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), and All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) staged a protest in front of the Siliguri Police Commissionerate on Saturday, demanding justice for the gang-rape of a minor girl. The protesters urged authorities to impose severe penalties on those responsible for the crime.
As the march approached the Commissionerate, protesters were stopped at the gate by police officers, leading to a brief clash. Following the confrontation, a six-member delegation was permitted to meet the police commissioner. The delegation demanded immediate and rigorous action against the accused and emphasized the urgent need for stronger measures to protect women in the area.
