Kharibari, 10th August: Jagdish Barman, a 72-year-old resident of Prasadu Jote, Kharibari, was found dead in his home on Saturday morning, hanging from a noose. The incident has deeply troubled the local community.
Reports indicate that Barman, who had been unwell for some time, was last seen by his wife after dinner on Friday night. The tragic discovery was made the following morning. Police from Kharibari Outpost responded to the scene and initiated an investigation.
Family members have hinted that Barman may have been suffering from mental depression, which could have led to the suicide. The body has been sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for a post-mortem examination as authorities continue to probe the case.
