Siliguri, 28th July: In a brazen act of theft, an individual posing as a passenger stole a mobile phone from an unsuspecting e-rickshaw driver in Champasari.
According to reports, the e-rickshaw driver was transporting a passenger from Champasari More to Sri Guru Vidyamandir School. The passenger, who claimed to need a ride to Baghajatin Colony, directed the driver to a lane near Champasari Kali Mandir. There, he said he needed to pick up a family member from a nearby house.
Feigning a phone call to the supposed family member, the man seized the driver’s mobile phone and fled the scene. After waiting for a considerable time, the driver realized he had been duped and promptly filed a written complaint at the Pradhan Nagar Police Station. Authorities are currently investigating the incident and are on the lookout for the culprit.
